What do people think about verification for domains before being able to list them for sale on netfleet?

What prompted me was the listing of mp3.com.au on NetFleet - I would be surprised if it actually for sale.

I like the idea, would save a lot of time from people taking offers on domains they don't own. Thought it would be pretty hard to verify without having direct access to registrar details such as email. A simple email to the domains whois could verify that.

I notice that the domain is no longer listed on there. There are still some other Dominet domains on there - are they actually for sale?

Well there you go, so it was legit. I guess it still raises the issue of verification.

IMO, flippa is a far better place to sell the site as it's more than just a domain.

It sounds a dated term to me.

"Site monetization information not available."

Nice.

I think you are getting mixed up between mp3.com.au and mp3.net.au? mp3.com.au is not listed on Netfleet, but mp3.net.au is listed on Netfleet and is for sale.

However, as pointed out, verification for domains is important. We do manually approve every single domain name on Netfleet, however in the coming weeks we will be changing this process for a much tighter system of actually verifying domain ownership via the details from the registry - which is actually pretty complicated, but it is needed. This will guarantee the owner has listed the domain for sale.

mp3.com.au was listed, right before niceshorts.com.au and thescene.com.au. It disappeared not long after being listed.

The changes for verification sound good. Probably a PITA to implement but better in the long run IMO.

mp3.com.au is for sale

Hi

my name is Damian London. Apart from being a part time Domainer, I am also the CEO of AdEffective Ltd. AdEffective Ltd are the owners of mp3.com.au, thescene.com.au and niceshorts.com.au, which were purchased off dominet in 2010.

Thought I'd provide some further information re: the sale of mp3.com.au.

  • The website is for sale.
  • The website was removed from NetFleet as it was decided we would list it only on one website first, being Flippa.com.
  • We have not disclosed revenues, however mp3.com.au is earning revenues from Display and Google AdSense.

I have updated the listing to provide further information on the website.

Thanks

Damian
