What's new

Herpes.net.au

Interesting, I'm guessing there is probably some degree of treatments that could be sold online, possibly has a good money angle on it despite poor extension. Probably some degree of embarrassment factor also that might suit online sales.

LOL @ Spacey

Interesting comment Snoopy - why is .net.au a "poor extension" ?? According to a "Google Certified" SEO Expert (legitemately Google Trained), there is no Google applied advantage of .com.au over .net.au as far as juice applied, which we know not to be the case with .net vs .com TLd. So Google are saying that they do not differentiate between ccTLd extensions. So from a traffic generating SERP ranking viewpoint .net.au is not a "poor" second cousin domain - it may not be as brandable as a .com.au equivalent from an easy to remember aspect because of habit of applying .com.au to a name however a .net.au domain will earn as much money as a its preferred cousin if developed equally.

Well, that is my understanding anyway - hopefully many here will disagree so that there is less competition for the .nets in snapper :)

cheers,
Mike

bummer - I wish I had never posted this - is there an admin guy in here who can delete this for me ???

What Google says doesn't always reflect in the real world. I would argue it the other way. I find .net and .org ranked just as well vs .coms in lot of cases, while .net.au are harder to rank then .com.au's. Thats my personal experience with them. No doubt you can still rank a .net.au, just for me its harder.

Shags this extension is "non standard", it is a 4 prong powerpoint in a 3 prong world. Every time it used people will expect something else.

Note sure what you mean by "Google Certified SEO Expert (legitemately Google Trained)". Since when did Google "certify" search engine optimizers?

Expect what "else" exactly? are you suggesting .net.au extensions in general are non standard? I'm not too sure that the average searcher takes much notice of the domain extension, many not even the domain name but moreso the page / site title and the description text - if that all fits and it reads as they require then why would they be critical of an extension or even a domain name, particularly when searching "pages from Australia" and in the pre-suggested category - hey, all the sites on the first couple of pages must be good right?. However I suppose domainers have different eyes to searchers.:)

the Technical Term is an GCSEOE - you will see the acronym in the source code of most of Matt Cutts correspondence - not widely publicised though for good reason. :)

Perhaps he means this.. which is only good for printing out and giving to your mother to stick on the fridge - "Look Mum, I'm Adwords Certified!."
