Guess I will go first in this new section. The site is Free Antivirus Software.

I caught the domain last year and I have only just got around to developing it, so it is still very much a work in progress... with the site being live for a couple of weeks now.

It's powered by a custom build application I have made to power my mini sites, with the aim to cut down on repetitive tasks. I have slowly been adding content and new features as I go.

Tonight I added an affiliate banner module tonight which overrides some of the adsense blocks and matches the banners to specific merchants. This is only live on some of the pages as affiliate program applications are pending - here is an example:

http://www.freeantivirussoftware.com.au/download/avg/avg-antivirus-free

Link profile is slowly coming along and at last count the site is ranking #14 on Google.com.au for "Free Antivirus Software".

Constructive feedback would be much appreciated, especially from any adsense gurus regarding placement, blending and T&Cs.

I'd have to say that the site looks heaps profesional and does not have a mini-site feel to it at all. Great work :)

Personally I think it makes sense to use a strategy like that. You may even get repeat customers from that and if I were to go to a site that looked like a mini-site there's no chance I'd click an ad, but if a relevant ad had come up on your site, I would have clicked it :)

I like it very much. It's clear, easy to navigate and is what it says without having to look around. I would offer up for the "free" sticker that if it were a page peel look I think it would be hotter. :) Good work.

Looks good, nice and clean.

Can you provide us with another example of a site your have created with this application. I want to see what is different depending on the topic.

Thank you all for the kind words.

This is the first one that has gone live, however sites that follow will come in two variations:

  1. Basically the same but with custom logo (obviously), colour scheme, menus and body content layout (all configurable in admin)
  2. Same backend administration system and frontend functions but with unqiue frontend layouts

I'm so sick of FTPing and updating open source sites manually, I doesn't scale up well.

One of the core benefits in doing things this way is that every time I make an update to the application I can push out updates to all sites with 1 click of the mouse. Got to love version control..
