While we are making generic sweeping statements ..

I believe
more people will get faster internet
more people will buy online
more companies will open online shops
more companies will not know how to 'do' online and will want to buy traffic

Put your bawls out there and make a real prediction like ..

the first 1 million dollar aftermarket sale for a domain name only
dozens of public 100k+ aftermarket sales

My prediction is that the only predictions you'll get is that .com.au are going to rise in value dramatically and we'll all get rich.

It reminds me of the finance pages a year ago, every single stockbroker interviewed in the article I read predicted large gains for the market, the actually result was a modest fall and everyone was quite about those year old predictions. In short if you ask people in an industry you'll almost always get an upbeat assessment about what is going to happen.

Here what I see as three potential outcomes,

-Values of .com.au's rise over the next 4 years.
-Market is flat for the next 4 years
-Values of .com.au's fall over the next 4 years

Find me a three sided coin and I'll tell you my tip.

My prediction is that Snoopy will not post one positive message on DNtrade about domain values, the industry, sales platforms, search volumes, auction results or life in general.

My prediction is that more and more people will jump on the domainer bandwagon, and more and more crap domains will be registered.

I also think that a lot of newcomers will lose a lot of money on domains, but at the same time those people with quality will see their portfolios continue to appreciate.

I think lead generation will be the big money maker rather than PPC advertising.

:D That's a bit like betting on Phar Lap.

My prediction is that you will not say one single bad word about .com.au, hyphenated .net.au's, 3d domains or Sydney.

1. In the next year I predict a major media player ( here or from overseas) will buy a large .com.au portfolio and try to take on fairfax / omg :) .... Might be http://www.sevencorporate.com.au/ but my guess will be someone bigger like http://www.newscorp.com .

Apparently they got a shock with the fairfax / omg deal and are scrambling to see how they can compete with the potential wipeout they could face against 30,000 fairfax / omg websites

Took some time for senior staff to see how it worked etc.. now they understand the internet and also domain names Im told

Im guessing there will be lots of new $ million sales for good names with good websites ( probably not stores but information... media companies dont want to run stores)

2. The 6 month rule before you can sell will be abolished

3. Auda might start their own drop service ( they made over $2 million in 2002 when they ran the generic auction so why not run it themselves and make more money? )

4. Retail shops and manufacturers will start selling online more ( Geoff Harvey will go into liqidation?). They might keep their brand names or start new online stores in conjunction with their retail outlets etc

5. Limitation on abns, trademarks, acn's will be abolished. The same rules as .com will apply here. Anyone can buy and sell ( free market)

6. DNtrade, Netfleet.com.au and drop.com.au will get HUGE and very popular !

I really hope Gerry Harvey doesn't go broke, I love going in to his stores to see/touch products before I buy them online.
