Hi All,

Over the last 6 weeks I have been hopelessly searching the internet for information on how to purchase a hi page rank and aged generic domain names, to no evail. I was beginning to think that this information simply didn't exist!

You can only imagine how surprised I was to stumble upon this site!
I am really glad I have found you guys and look forward to future convo's with you all.

Purchasing high page rank aged generic name is easy. All you need is a lot of money. Just go to sedo.com, choose you preferred domain name and place your bid/offer.

sex.com just sold for 13 mil. Can't be more generic and aged than this. Unfortunately doesn't have high PR but I'm sure you'll find something there ;)

Welcome to the forum. Great to have you involved!

In regards to the sorts of domains you are looking for, I'm not an expert in the field of buying aged domains with PR (some guys on these forums might be though), but I would be careful to buy domains for only those reasons.

There seems to be some anecdotal evidence that Google discounts authority of domains when they change hands, particularly if they are expired or the content on the domains is changed once the transfer has taken place.

It would be worth doing a bit of reading into before dropping big money on those sorts of domains. If you do follow it up please do share your findings with the rest of us.

PS here are a couple more recent articles on a similar tangent:

Like finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow ? :) Gotta love that saying in your signature - you and I will get along famously :D

Welcome (a piece of advice - free too mind you - avoid any mention of 3D in here unless you are wearing armour :D) .... kidding !!

cheers,
Mike

p.s. I have a 7 week old domain that ranks HIGH on page 79 ........ does that fit your criteria? even if it does I'm not sure that I would part with a gem like that, my portfolio would crumble with such a loss :D

Thank you everyone for the very warm welcome and the awesome advice! I am glad my sig was able to bring you guys some smiles :).

Shags I would have considered it, only if it ranked high on page 69... giggidy.

CTC I appreciate you taking the time to post that info for me, I have somewhat experimented with rejuvenating dropped domains in the past to a varying degree of success. I agree that google certainly does devalue some of the domain authority after it has been dropped, however I am inclined to believe that in the case that some idiot accidentally allows his domain to expire google has implemented a small amount of safe guard for these people allowing them to recoup some of their old authority.

It sounds like I am going to need to read up on what the hell a secondary market is and where I can find one...
Andrew how do I access these? I just signed up with drop.com.au but am unable to find this section???

Thanks again guys!

Hi Si,

It definitely does exist - in fact we are the largest provider of this information.

The only thing I'd caution you about is jumping in without knowing exactly what you are buying, why you are buying it and an idea of how much its really worth.

Read everything you can and feel free to ask any questions. Have a good weekend.
