Hi,

I have regged two of the worlds shortest domains ever:

3.CR and 4.CR

What price should I take for them, what ragne do you think they are, $$$, $$$$, $$$$$ ?
This kind of domains is really rare, as of my calculations there are maybe some 1400 domains with the format L.LL all over the world. Most of them sold out or not available to some registry rules.

These are short, that's true but if i heard the term on the radio i may actually type in three.cr or four.cr, i see that m.ag is on auction at flippa, there has been one fellow on another forum in the past who was selling single character domains for between $750 to 1,799 (from memory) There is also the minus of little known extension, i had to look up where the extension was from, do google allow for global settings for this in webmaster tools ? This registrar is charging $180 http://www.onlydomains.com/country/...WYrjTe7l3P3vY5gpL0EhMafoGUfbA8Zrqdv8LX2_w_wcB,

Value is a hard one, i will guess in between $750 and $2,000, i may want a premium new gtld at that renewal rate, good luck

Certainly stands out but agreed with spacey it doesn't quite pass the radio test. Nor does it seem very brandable in that .cr isn't quite as popular in the mainstream.

Lots of things are "rare", doesn't mean there is high demand for them hence making them valuable. I don't know exactly what these are worth, but I don't think they are worth much. If you just registered it that likely means dozens of other people felt they were not worth the reg fee before you. Personally I have never heard of .cr.

The other issue for names like this is the thousands of one character new tld domains coming onto the market.

thanks. From my own experience the price is by high $$$ to low $$$$. But 1-chars are really hard to get. Most registries do not allow them, also for the new gTLDs it seems th be a rule. And L.LL is really the shortest format, compared to potentially L.LLLL. Also. just to tell, the yearly price is 80 USD.

You must also remember Cost Rica is a country with a small population and their are many different domain options such as -

.ac.cr - Academic: Universities
.co.cr - Commercial
.ed.cr - Education: Colleges, High Schools, etc.
.fi.cr - Financial institutions like banks
.go.cr - Governmental
.or.cr - Non-profit organizations
.sa.cr - Health related institutions.
.cr - Other Uses

It is hard to compare a L.LL such as a L.co with a .CR

I really doubt some one will pay $xxxx sorry to say

well, yes its true, but after the name itself there are also some technological benefits that only 1-chars like L.LL have and that make them even 150 times more effective than LL.LL etc.

PS. my best sale was so far almost 2000 USD for a domain of Macedonia - a country smaller than Costa Rica. Though domains from Europe are strong in value of course.

Is this an appraisal thread or a sales thread?
