Creates more .au namespace market uncertainty and further destabilises the .au namespace globally.
Is it just promoting defensive registrations or is it hinting thinks will change for the worse when Aflias take over?

Anyone who heard the full auDA PRP meetings can verify the PRP suggestions, process where a complete mess. This is why auDA will not release the auDA PRP Public meeting audio to stakeholders.They know if people listen to it millions of concerned stakeholders will speak up and it will be the end for auDA or at least current management and board.

Afilias is apparently charging ZERO for July for new registrations.. The only fees will be auDA's questionable fees/ taxes.
99.9% of .au domain name consumers do not know they are having to pay, who auDA is, or what they do for the $$ which benefits the .au consumer exactly.
IF auDA cared about Registars, Resellers and Consumers auDA would pass on the full 60% lower Afilias pricing. Registrars, Resellers and Consumer may then see a benefit.
This is why a lot of people from Supply have no problems supporting the SGM and to stop auDA's profit making and massive expenses mindset.
The solution is NOT auDA continiung to profiteer and risk their own not for profit status, taxation benefits and other obligations
