    Thx smee
    Is iTiKL any good?
Considering walkie talkie apps are mutually exclusive of each other, I want a good one.
I expect walkie talkie will largely replace SMS by 2018/19

Actually they are Walkie Talkies or handheld transceivers. NOT SCANNERS
Seriously, if (BIG IF) these apps start becoming popular the TELCOS will simply make it difficult or impossible to use them.
The TELCOS make their money from the Voicecalls, SMS and DATA plans, anything that will impact on that income will be soon stomped on or CHARGED for.
Skype is probably the best App for this concept anyway. Cross platform support, Existing user base, and Major players supporting it.

Must be fairly good compared to the others as play store indicates it's had the most downloads.

You can use something like Ventrilode or equivalent to connect to ventrillo/teamspeak/mumble. They're effectively walkie talkie for as many users as you need.

djuqa must've been drunk off metho before posting (yet again).
