Tips on negotiating a domain ?

There's a g2tld domain I want which the owner has had for years. 5400 exact local searches for the term. Not the reason why I want the domain though.

The owner wants $20k and won't negotiate below that. It seems unreasonable as a competitor domain with full site and over 100k in members sold last year for $24k

Do I have any options here for negotiating him down or any other way to get hold of the domain ?

I have to say I find this a strange post. Maybe I am misunderstanding it though.

A person doesn't have to sell anything if they doesn't want to - for whatever reason.

"Any other way to get hold of the domain?" - The mind boggles.

If you really want it, pay the money.

It's what they value it at that matters, not what you value it at.

If you don't want it that bad then find something else.

My question here pertains to the persons actual right of use.
