i had a thought today that given the recent panda/penguin problems it would be good to " de centralise" some of my domains.

basically not a new idea but having domains on different ip's creating backlinks from say a blog is still a good idea, not link farming but a geniune little blog site under your own control

So one way to do it is to pay lots of diiferent hosting fees, another way is to trade hosting, i give you 20mg on my hosting account and you give me 20 mg on yours.

please lets not get into a conversation about the obvious blogspot / blogger etccc as google will no doubt be stamping down on that even though it owns it.

Common sense rules apply as to no porn etccccc

but i have lots of space in my hosting packages and a few different ip's would be good for business.

anyone have any ideas about this?

WOW, thanks

it took me a while to find the right link on that page as some links on the page actually had viruses

Really? For anyone worried, it's a link to whirlpool.net.au free hosting topic.

If there are links there to dodgy sites, i'd report the posts.

Re servers australia, I was a client of theirs for years until they "Sold" all their clients a few years back. Then after 18 months I got an email saying "We're sorry you left, please come back"..

That still doesn't sit too well with me.

Anyway, there's plenty of free hosting floating around if you get no exchange love.

Its not just your IP address which matters,

It can be your Adsense ID, Analytics ID, Whois public data or any thing else that can connect sites together.

Thing is most free hosts are usually on the same network as many other websites, problem been that this leaves you with 20 bad "neighbours"

Regards,

James.

I have sites hosted on different hosts with different IPs etc, but I've given up on the "interlinked network" strategy, because as James mentioned if Google really wants to work out who owns what it isn't exactly hard.

And in my experience, you are always better off in the long run if you don't assume Google is stupid, and that you just interlink related sites, despite the fact they have the same IP, with the same AdSense and Analytics ID and whois data.

I've seen SO many strategies of how to beat Google over the years blow up in people's faces (mine too at times) that I've given up on trying to Outsmart them. They tend to win in the long run, so if you want to be around for the long run play their game.

Hi guys - this is a first post for me. Just reading this thread and thought I would add my 2c.

From what I understand the idea of using a variety of c-class IP's is if you have a number of PR3 or PR4 (or better) sites in your own little private network where you can keep owner privacy. I dont think you can do this in Australia with .com.au but you can do it with all the other TLDs.

The only thing to watch out for is you must have the site owner details hidden (from the get go when you buy it), including no analytics and no adsense. Remove any footprint that would connect the sites to each other or to you (so don't link the sites to each other either). This way the high PR sites are there purely to push linkjuice to your money sites. Don't use them for adsense!

Hope that helps. :)
