There was a post on SmartCompany today by an "expert" in Online Sales.

The title of his blog piece is : "Domain misspellings: What are they worth?"

What do you think of this paragraph?:

Many typo squatters and domain squatters are making a small fortune leveraging other people’s brands for profit. And they continue to get away with it! (Disclaimer, I’m not whiter than white either… I own www.ewetube.com.au.)

It's interesting to have a look at the auDA policy on misspellings.

Ive seen some of the stuff this guy has written in the past, I think he needs to research more before he posts.

Some points are valid but I think articles like these will only drive people to go a buy brands miss spellings.

That article reads as nothing but (mostly) baseless hype and promos to me. I was reminded though that someone gave my client similar advice a few months ago so we bought about $400 worth of brand typos and set them up to redirect with UTM tags. I just checked how that's going and over the last 3 months or so they've contributed about 0.001% of total traffic, which is about the same level as organic brand typo traffic.
