    Hi Folks,
I recently purchased a domain on NF and we are unable to track the current domain owner. They won't reply to emails or phone calls. Most NF sales go thru ok but this is proving most difficult. Does anyone have any advice for this one?

    Regards,
    K77.

Thanks PM received. Just confirming the sale went through late last night yeah? I'll chase up but in general probably best to wait at least 24 hours before ringing the alarm bells!!

I wouldn't worry too much if it only went through last night.

The seller could be away or whatever.

I bought a car once and when I went to pick it up I had to wait for the guy to come back from the shop, so frustrating.

I was gunna call the car sales police on him. :)

    Still waiting...

I've finally contacted them. I've paid half and they've submitted "some" details for transfer. The Registrar has indicated that there is not enough info for the transfer (under AudA regs) however they think there is. Stalemate. They won't submit the entire details and aren't in a rush to let the domain go.

    Problem unsolved.

    Very frustrating.

Personally I wouldn't transfer a domain unless it was fully paid for.

and that is where the problem begins

surely an opening here for someone to start a service

quite for either party to trust people they do not know

escrow/com is popular with .com high sales , unsure how the slower .com.au transfers would go ?

I always treat it like a business transaction.

    When selling.
    Raise an invoice inc GST
When the invoice is paid submit the transfer documents.
Keep the customer informed as they tend to be a bit nervous.

    When buying.
    Request invoice.
    Send new registrant details.
    Pay invoice.
    Await transfer.

If they don't transfer (which hasn't happened in 6 years of trading) then I suppose I start to worry and send the boys round.

Before any transaction I like to know whom I am dealing with so a bit of prior investigation is always in order. Also it is good to have a bit of patience as transfers in .au land don't happen overnight and the process is a bit painful.

There was an innocent mix up with what was required by the registrar according to their t&c's, and this has now been corrected and the change of registrant is imminent.

    Excellent advice IMO.
