Registrant Contact Name

Got a client who wants to move away from previous webmaster, website and domain name as they appear to be paying for zilch. The webmaster (and I use that term loosely) has set the Registrant Contact Name and the Technical Contact Name to his email address.

Is there a way to avoid having him know that the domain name is being transferred away?

Depends on the registrar, but you should be able to send a letter on letterhead asking for the contact details to be updated to an email on the domain.

If you can login to domain management, why don't you change the email address to yours, otherwise he will get the approval link

Might have to go the letter head option as the webmaster hasn't given him any access whatsoever. Bit of a cowboy to be honest. Long story but this guy has been paying for services for 2 years and getting zero in return so he is wanting to avoid contact with him as he is afraid of him shutting everything down.

I'm going to migrate his hosting but need to get the domains sorted as well.

Thanks guys
