OMG seo links

Just noticed there are footer links on some of the major fairfax websites to some of OMGs best domains

Eg www.smh.com.au and www.theage.com.au

These would carry a fair bit of authority and weight wouldn't they?

The benefit of these would be immense. I use to get similar type links from Chinese news portals and that would almost always propel me over competitors to top spots.

That would explain why their credit card site ranks so well ;-)

Seriously though, those footer links have been up for a long time and don't quote me but I think it resulted in PR5>7.

However their solid number 1 for 'credit cards' ain't what it used to be.

I thought footer links got devalued years ago?

These footer links have been live for a long time I remember doing an audit of a few sites from OMG as I work with competitors of their sites, and they had the site wide footers on these portals.

For sure they do have a lot of power still on such a large site and soo many thousand pages, but yeah Google has been de valuing these types of links but nerveless if you get footer links on crazy large sites it is 100% worth it.
