had an olddddddddddd joomla site ( as i am wordpress now ) i needed to access the administrator today, client forgot the password.
anyway, i found this very informative article on recovery and it worked a treat,
i used step 2. selecting "MD5" is i think the most important part
i also used the full encrypted password: it looked something like this:
fd32538298b5029014e0304ec7dd2949912:hz3t9CNnopsQG8iWCcm5EWJ and the bloody thing worked !
so then i was able to go in and reset the clients password.
this maybe something simple to most but someone may get a benefit.
