i think local cctlds are stronger and more in the mindset of the country they are used in

these new extensions will only add to confusion , with perhaps .com being the winner ?

I agree with Spacey. Looks like a giant money grab to get dollars out of big corporates. Some argument from a geo pr generic perspective but consumers have been educated on how a web address should look. It may actually push the value of ccTLD's higher.
