It would seem the new owner will miss the boat on this mothers day but probably brought it with next year in mind.

While on the topic I just typed in 'fathersday.com.au' out of interest and noticed it redirects to 'fatherhood.net.au'. Thinking the .net.au as the primary a bit odd I typed in 'fatherhood.com.au' and that too redirects to the '.net.au', so I guess this is one to add to the quite small list of companies running with the '.net.au' over the '.com.au'

Overall had fathersday.com.au been available (or even better been in the same auction) I think it would have only been worth around 50% or less of the mothersday.com.au sale price.

That's interesting re fatherhood.net.au. You do wonder why people prefer the net.au when they have both. Surely they realise com.au is the 1st choice for most of their users...

PS: Just a quick response to some of the comments. Yes, this domain is very seasonal, but it is also a category killer across many industries. So if marketed and developed correctly (which I am sure the Pacific Octane team is more than capable of achieving) then the return on investment will far outweigh the cost of acquisition just in the months leading up to Mothers Day. Remembering, renewal for this domain in 2 years time will be just a renewal rate - less than $30!
