Mixionary.com's campaign to corner Aussie search

There's been a bit of buzz about Diageo's summer campaign, here's some info for anyone interested.

Diageo Australia has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying AdWords related to drinks, or cocktails. Phrases like "how to mix a cocktail" have been purchased too – and they all direct users to the same site: mixionary.com.

"The campaign comes as Diageo throws invests heavily in its online presence, launching a massive search engine marketing campaign that will direct consumers to its new Mixtionary website."

Is it just me or is that a very, very ordinary domain/brand choice? Lucky they're spending money on adwords links, because no-one's going to remember how to spell it. More dollars than sense perhaps...

PS: Just noticed the spelling is different in the two quotes above. ;)

40 likes and a 6mill alexa rank results from the campaign speak for themselves who is there marketing team, I suggest they find a new one... and fire who ever designed the ugly site while they are at it.

I don't think it's just you. I got the spelling wrong when I checked it out but I thought that was just me being a doofus, not a great choice of name in my opinion.

But yeah a good chunk of AdWords cash.

If only cocktailrecipes.com.au didn't get penguined, they could have better spent that money (was doing 500 uv/day at it's peak)
