MILF.com.au...

Now that I've got your attention...

'milf' gets 74,000 local exacts, 368,000 local broads so I'm keen to develop and take advantage of this search volume.

Trouble is there is huge competition in this area and it's not really the sort of thing I'd want to pour my heart into. Not really one for the business card you know...

So I thought, build a site that has info on the meaning of the word but isn't explicit in any way. That way I might rank well for people searching with their Google safe search turned on (which is default after all).

Milf sites with no adult content are thin on the ground so competition would be relatively small compared with search volume.

But then what - how do I monetise it?

Turn it into a site about how new mothers can feel good about themselves after giving birth, sell them day spa's, make up, new clothes, etc. It would suit the name well, be PG, and an avenue to monetise quite well

That sounds more like yummy mummys soj which is what they refer to themselves as, not milfs. I think a different domain would be better suited to a PG site.

I'm guessing the people searching for milf in Google aren't mothers but young, adult males looking for a bit of fun or pics/video/tube sites. Maybe send them to a dating site like Oasis, I'm pretty sure they have a campaign that pays $1 per sign up.

Maybe just join a cam affiliate program with it and make the 50% commission on sales.

MILF is known for only a few reasons.. no guessing whats most popular when people google it

Just make a micro site with affiliate links to adult programs...

the .au prob will work ok in ranking most competitors are us based.

I think the question is....why? It is a porn name so to build something that isn't a porn site is a waste of time in my view.

Snoopy, why do you insist on being contrary for the sake of it.... getting a bit tedious IMO

Please re-read my post. It's about exploiting a potential opportunity related to Google's safe search mechanism, competition and search volume.

Thanks everyone for feedback - really appreciate it ... might just proceed with step 1 (get it to the top of Google for safe search), measure traffic and then think what to do with it.

The dating sites could be a good idea. As for cams - when do cam sites become restricted in safe search? Hard to know what you can get away with. I think you might just be able to get away with using it as a brandable 'yummy mummy' type site but that's never going to be what the traffic is looking for.

I think what will be key is making the Google snippet sound attractive to the majority of searchers (and therefore enticing a click) without triggering the safe search filter...

Of I might just flip it to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front

David this is what you said "So I thought, build a site that has info on the meaning of the word but isn't explicit in any way.".

I'm asking "why?" because you'll have a whole lot of people looking for porn and you'll be giving them a definition, they'll be looking for the back button very quickly.

Regarding Google's "default" search porn sites do rank as far as I know.

OK, last time... Why? Because this might be a way to gain considerable amounts of traffic for relatively very little investment.

And yes I understand the problem that they will indeed be looking for the back button. That's the whole idea of my original post to see if anyone has any creative ideas to address that issue.... of which several have been gratefully suggested.

You've still got two problems though,

-The traffic will near worthless. Porn traffic is low value enough let alone trying to build a site on a porn term with no porn on it. It is a bit like trying to open a strip club where all the girls keep their clothes on.

-Secondly I don't think there is any masses of free traffic without much competition to be had because porn sites rank (pretty much as normal I think) with Google's default search.

Not a great long term solution but you could get it ranking and then put your black hat on.

A simple filter to redirect all users with non search bot user agents (you'll need to reverse lookup the host names via IP aswell and cross reference) to porn landing pages will do the trick.
