Keyword Tool Variations

I know this comes up from time to time, but I'm noticing some major differences in some of the stats that Drop and NF are currently posting (and what I am getting independently).

One example is HardHats.net.au, which is dropping tomorrow:
Drop - Monthly Search Vol 320 Suggested Bid $14.53 ('Suggested' I know!)
NF - Search 36 CPC $0.47

And when I'm logged in to Google Adwords Keyword Tool I get:

Local Monthly Searches 320 and CPC $0.51

And HardHats isn't the only one. I get very difference figures for some of the Insurance domains that dropped today.

I know that there are different ways of measuring these things and that the Keyword Tool is far from perfect, esp for .com.au and net.au, but I'm still curious.

Am I missing something?

For the search volume, this is due to NF thinking the term to us is 'hardhats' instead of 'hard hats'. If you Google each term, neither are corrected with the other, so both are acceptable phrases.

I would say 'hard hats' is more accurate however

Regarding CPC - I've cross checked and am getting 0.86c for 'hard hats' and 0.72 for 'hardhats'...

Google stats always need a big handful of salt....

Hi Iejs,

I've checked the Google adwords keyword tool and can verify your results... Local Monthly Searches 320 and CPC $0.51. We pull data from Google on an automated basis and we've found that we do get the occasional aberration. We always recommend that you conduct your own research.

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks Andrew.

It's good to know that I wasn't having a total brain fade! Not today, anyway...

In the end of the day you need to do your own research, alot of the estimates from Google keyword tool are not correct.
