Hi Friends,

Just want to know how much the domain name iForex.com.au will worth.
there is a trading platform called iforex already and it's quite popular in other countries.
Also i have noticed that they owned more than 20 other country TLD iforex domain names.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply guys,

Well I’m quite ok with the trademark laws with regards to domain names. I started internet carrier back in Geocities days and sold couple of very expensive domain names (Not boasting)
So i really like to know the aftermarket value of the domain name.

About the trademarks
* According to do the ATMOSS, there is no trademark registered by the name iForex in Australia. US trademarks cannot interfere with the trademarks of other countries. That’s why companies like facebook has trademarks in every country.
* Also what we should not do is to start a business that is similar or identical to existing trademarks because it will give some confusions to the customers. Here I’m not doing any business related to Forex without their permission.
* I back-ordered this domain name for a large amount after its been expired recently.
* iForex group in aware of this domain name because i have already contacted them and ask about their partnership program. So if they are happy, most likely i will be able to join with them and expand their business in Australia, not just because i have the domain name, but because i can represent the Aus market and go thought all the steps to make it happen. In that case, i will give it to them anyway. They are bit lucky because the domain name is now secured for them to use it in any time. It seems at the moment they are having some issues with the regulators in Australia because it’s quite expensive and complex to start a High yield business in Australia like Forex without some kind of transparency.

Regards

"iforex" a trademark for a firm operating in the forex business? This is going to be an incredibly weak mark if any court even found one existed.

The main issue here is the poster stating they registered it because of a popular platform in other countries, I don't see big issues with the name itself.

I'm not a lawyer but I assume that if they have used this trademark so extensively online in other countries it won't make any difference if they don't have the trademark registered here if they decide to make a complaint.

I'm not sure they have a trademark in any "non dodgy" country.

Domain name has been sold ! :)
I back- ordered this name because it was catchy. I had no idea about the trademarks.
For those who worry about the trademarks, it's far way to go if you are thinking to make a living out of this.
In practical world, no one complain for a domain name unless it worth millions of dollars. If it worth that much, then
they will not fail to secure the names in the first place.
Even if there is a complain, then the proceder is the registrar give the current holder to drop it within 30 days.

Normally they will request the name first and ethnically the owner should give it to the trademark holder.
Imaging all the lawyers fees and time, no one wants to go in to that path.

I had 4 similar cases. Three of them asked me to sell it to them and i sold it.
one person threatened me with an email and finally he ended up buying it from me for few hundred dollars.

Think out of the box guys.
