Have you done a search on the subject, many things other than the question being asked it seems, i have read 9 seems to be maximum ....... would be handy if other folk actually contributed on this FORUM

Nah not a good strategy as it will cause dilution and mess with your hierarchy

Thanks for your input, drive me nuts as this video says it all completely different, he does us the tag that is the same as the title, i would to read a few more comments about this

Any views about tag clouds ?

Well think about it this way

You're going to have /tag/keyword and you're going to have /category/keyword. Which one should be preferenced?

I believe tag clouds can cause issues. They are pretty 2007

You know what's funny is a client just emailed me re: having a section for strata planning (whatever that is) on their website. They wanted it in the top menu and to only show strata planning posts. This was a perfect opportunity to use the tag feature in wordpress. I just added the menu item, /tag/strata and told them to tag all their strata posts with strata. To easy

Any reason you wouldn't use a 'category' in this example? You could set strata as the category and then use related subjects as the tags, e.g. different strata sectors such as commercial strata, residential strata, retail strata etc...

Possibly because this thread was in my head lol? Nah I just wanted to keep it simple. If the client sets up the separate categories (as you've described) they can still mark them with the strata tag. It's probably much of a muchness. But I get what you're saying

Gotcha :)

I'm interested in learning how how other people use categories/tags because I'm not sure the way I'm doing it is such a great example.

Great topic spacey.
