Not sure where the proliferation of grey and light grey text is coming from I assume it has something to do with WP themes but seriously I have actually found myself straining to read some websites lately because of a lack of contrast and these are websites which want to sell me something or otherwise get me to do something.
People don't look at light grey text and think it's cool. It only creates problems. People don't think black text is old fashioned. They just read it.
If you are paying someone else to do this to your websites tell them thanks but no thanks.
