Hi guys, thought I would say hi and provide an intro.

I work as an SEO consultant and have been in and around the IT industry for over 19 years...

The reason for me joining is it looks like a well structured forum and has a load of useful info I can use.

I am in the process of reconditioning a number of expired .au domain names with previous PageRank, good backlinks.

These may be useful for business needing a boost or other creative uses.

Enjoy.

thanks guys - I appreciate your welcome messages.

I am new to domain name trading and there are a few holes as far as legalities in the AU market I am keen to understand.

I am looking at revitalising AU domains, bringing back PR of businesses that have let their domains go (closed down etc)- fully related as far as categories are concerned (ie. creating news/info sites a few pages in depth).

I will then be selling these on with the value of the site rather then just the domain name etc. - wondered what you guys thought of this approach and if you think it is a viable business model?

finding the AU expired domains is tough but fun :)

Cheers

I've found selling domains FAR easier than selling minisites.

That said, I'm really surprised more large SEO companies don't acquire minisites with decent domains for PR and backlinks to help their clients main sites rank, or to potentially upsell the domains/minisites to clients directly.

Thanks for the feedback Chris,

Lots of SEO companies do use the method you outlined here but it is against Googles T&C and they may/will ban you if they catch on that is what you are doing. They do attempt to cover their tracks when doing this and what is good about this method is you have control of the links - if the sites banned you remove the link and the client site is unaffected (in theory).

The reason I would recreate the sites is so the buyer would see the actual toolbar PageRank and see the value in this rather than just the domain name. It would also be easier to rank the site based on subject matter.

cheers
