Anyone had to pay GST 'after' buying domain?

ie: you purchase a domainf for $xxx then get invoiced for $xxx + GST

For drop services this is common, but im not sure if its allowed for private transactions. As they aren't providing you a good or service, they are selling an asset?

Yeah I think you are right Soj, especially with Drops "stating" prior to sale that GST will be charged in excess of winning bids.
Absolutely no problem there.
But I think even privte sellers are selling a "good", whether they charge the GST component is another story though.

Yeah it was more the private thing between a private seller and private buyer.
It wasn't even obvious the seller was a business in the ad.
