Great news about COR at drop

Is it paperless?

Hi Rhythm,

Yes it's paperless... and quick. If both parties respond in a timely manner and the invoice is paid, transfer can take place within the hour.

We soft launched it a week or so ago and it's been fine - no issues. We'll make an official announcement this week.

Cheers

Hi

Does the CoR require that the domain be with Drop before the change?

Or can it be done with the domain initially located at another Registrar?

The Transfer (Change of Registrant) does require the domain to be with Drop.com.au before the other party is invited. You need to transfer the domain to drop.com.au (waiting the 2-3 days to complete) and then initiate the Change of Registrant. We do this to ensure domain ownership and we now enforce the 6 month rule too.

This process by itself, makes Drop the most innovative, domainer friendly registrar.

A MUST to be with them.

It is also worth noting that there are circumstances where you can apply to auDA for permission to sell in under 6 months. This process, which our support staff can guide you through, is currently manual. If any of you are considering seeking permission it is also worth noting that you need to contact auDA via your registrar.

OK. Thanks for the answer.

Why indeed?

If any of you have a sizable portfolio of domains and are interested in why many domainers chose Drop, be sure to have a chat with Andrew before you dismiss Drop just based on the front door price!

ummm yeah im asking what the fee is ? how much it costs ?
Each registrar can charge whatever they like
It ranges from $40 at ventraip to $320 at Melbourne IT
I prefer Drop.com.au at $49.95 because their COR is paperless
All the others require paper forms
Note that it is free to transfer registrars so you do not have to process a COR at the current registrar
