Been keeping us on a string waiting for this one to happen. I guess even the big G needs some Xmas break time. But in theory it should be be better when this comes in, since it is meant to be realtime and all.

I don't think it's going to make much difference. We don't know the Google algorithms as it is now, nor do we know when they do updates, so I've stopped worrying about when they do updates.
As long as you're not trying to 'game' the system, it should not affect you too much...

It may be a positive google update since any penalized sites will not have to wait until the next Penguin release for the penalty to be lifted.

It will probably happen between Xmas and New Year.
The recent local update is of more concern to me. Rankings are all over the place.
