GD is now masking the WHOIS data from expired names in an "effort to prevent people from circumventing (GD) auctions and bothering domain owners."

What domain owners need is a registrar that will share the spoils of an expired domain auction.

I let two pretty good domains expire this year and GD did really well out of it. GD also had all those years of reg fees. No wonder they want to close the door to stop investors contacting the expiring domain holder.

The registrar who latches on to this concept and offers a share of the expired auction to domainers will do well, as more domains will be registered there knowing there is a chance of making some money when/if you let that domain expire.
