Looks like they've rendered the keyword planner tool useless...
I'm now getting ranges for keywords such as "1K – 10K" or "100 – 1K"

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't used it for a week or so.
Just checked it out for myself:

And as the article points out - the ranges are indeed huge.
