free stock images

i'm always looking for "basic" stock images, fillers, backgrounds, thumbnails etc

yes you can pinch them from google images but you do risk copyright issues and i don't like it on clients sites.

i have been using http://www.sxc.hu/ ( currently closed but check back as it was good )

paid i use istockphoto

but found this the other day: http://morguefile.com/

looks pretty good, does anyone else have some gems to offer?

yes, but thats still paid, this is free free

and yes you get a much better quality image, i am purely talking "fillers" not "heros"

if i can get heros for free free that that would be great.

not free but received an interesting email today that istockphoto hav edropped their prices by 50% for half their catalogue

I've used Flickr a couple times for publishing based sites and have offered a credit in return.

Otherwise, I often just take a photo and edit it as needed. Often quicker than scouring the net.
