Sunrise will run from November 16 through December 16 of this year. General availability won’t begin until March 2, 2021.
You’ll need to open up your pocketbook if you wish to start a website on .forum. Wholesale pricing has apparently been set at $1,000 per year, although there will be a first-year promotion for half of the normal price.
I understand the need for the more specialised names to charge more, but it's going to be hard to establish trust when an extension doesn't have mass adoption. Especially when there are other extensions such as .community or the obvious choice of example.com/forums etc., I think this will be a hard one to sell, but we'll see.
