FFS! Don't You Hate It When...

OK so I jumped on Snapper auctions just then to see what domains are up for sale today and I saw that LightweightLuggage.com.au was dropping (a domain that I previously owned, but decided to drop).

Then I saw the search volume which said, 480, and I thought to myself, hmm that's not too bad I'm surprised I decided to drop it given it has that CPC.

Then I realised, when reviewing whether to keep the domain or not I was doing my metrics analysis based on the search volumes for "Light Weight Luggage" rather than "Lightweight Luggage" for which the search volume is 10 times higher!

Worst of all the same thing happened to me with the domain NewbornBabyClothes.com.au just the other day, which I also dropped, I did my analysis on "New Born Baby Clothes" which gets less than 20% of search volume that "Newborn Baby Clothes" gets.

So the moral of the story is, don't be an idiot like me, learn to spell... it'll stop you wasting money dropping decent domains, and it might make you some money when the Snapper algo chooses the wrong spelling and everyone else overlooks the real underlying value of the domain...

Sometimes it is a case of learn to misspell & the aggregate of the variants changes the metrics dramatically

i was looking at a misspelt name to register today ( of course i'm not going to tell you) but the correct spelling had 22,000 exacts and the misspell ( only 1 letter and what i thought would be a regular mistake) had on 260 exacts

huge difference and worth checking if people actually do misspelt

tim

PS: misspell, misspelled and misspelt seem to be a puzzle for google
