just paid someone $500 USD via paypal and it cost me $579.41 AUD

xe dot com say it should be $560.08

either way i have to say i loved the days of AUD = USD last year

Did you let Paypal do the currency conversion or did you request to be charged in USD (and your CC does conversion)? Paypal is notorious for its bad rates

You just got paypaled. Theyhave awful exchange rates, let your credit card co do the conversion if possible, they typically have better rates.

yes i needed to pay in USD, and i do know it has bad exchange but i have done testing and i can get better but then my bank fees end up being more !!!

i am dealing with overseas freelances so paypal is quick and they LOVE getting the money QUICK, so the saving is in the cheaper labour, i just hate the BS exchange rate.

PS: i only do it with people i have employed OFTEN
