The company announced that it acquired FreeParking, which it says is New Zealand’s top domain name registrar and hosting company. The company has over 90,000 customers and four brands: FreeParking, Open Host, Domains4less and Discount Domains.
The business will be managed by Dreamscape Networks, an Australian company that Web.com acquired for USD 73 million last year. Dreamscape’s most popular brand is CrazyDomains.
Web.com is trying to aggressively expand in the Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia area. It lost its bid for WebCentral to another Australian company, despite offering more for the business. The FreeParking acquisition might be the end of its expansion in the area for now; its press release about the deal said it “rounds out Web.com Group’s strategic expansion” in the area.
