Why would a company buy it for that reason though? When was the last time you saw a company called calling themselves "DB" because it mean database? What would a domainer do with this, try to sell "databases" using the domain db.com.au?

It has got enduser potential for companies currently using the acronym, obvious one being Deutsche Bank, but that is little different to most LL.com.au's with decent letter quality.

Dun and Bradstreet sprung to mind for me. They currently use dnb.com.au which sounds a bit clumsy to me. I bet DB.com.au already gets lots of typo traffic

Probably does, the traffic isn't going to be worth much though (assuming it is monetized in a non infringing way).

Deutsche Bank would also be the big one, they acquired a few other db. TLD

I also noticed this domain has dropped in the past as DROP is the registrar.

There's a large company factory near me called "David Brown" I also have a few friends with those initials, so the last thing I thought of was Database myself.
