Just got the good news email from drop.

"Dear Bacon Farmer,

The drop lists are back again after a brief outage while we switched Registry Operators.,

The new Registry Operator has announced that their initial migration has been successful and we are expecting them to start the daily purge process within the next three days.

Even though we are not sure of the exact purge date for each domain, with our new bidding format it is no longer important.
Bids are now blind and each bid has to be double the one before so it is advantageous to bid early.

The lists for the first few days are abnormally large so the interface will be a little slow. Please be patient while the page loads during this period.

You can start bidding by clicking on "Daily Drops" in the menu, or following the link below.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact us on support@drop.com.au or just reply to this email.

Best Regards,

Pretty disappointed in the new domainshield system though.

We will work on making it sortable tomorrow and will also make the length configurable, today however the early birds can catch the worms.

The Auction guide probably hasn't been updated since the changeover, but hopefully you're right and it includes registration... although I'd prefer that to be seperate, so that I can choose the registration period, and not be forced into 1 year.

.au prices will be going down.. Don't register for more than 1 year.

The auDA fee and auDA Foundation fee's will be subject of major Government and Consumer actions...Plus an EOI will bring new pricing options. Afilias contract will remain but another body to do the role of auDA may transpire to fix the ongoing problems

Things are pretty crazy at the moment with the migration stopping the daily drop process for an unprecedented length of time.
This makes the daily auction format impossible so we have swopped on relatively short notice to a system which is more flexible in terms of not needing to close at an exact time.
At the moment I am not going to "close" the auctions daily but rather take a snapshot of the bids and then try to catch them at the official drop times and whoever has the highest bid when the domain drops is going to get the domain. All bids on domains which don't drop will then be carried over to the next day.

Nice work :)
I've just logged in and it says I need to purchase access to the drop list auctions.

If you don't have it yet I can set you up with an account, I just need your email address of the account you use at drop and your ABN/ACN if you have not added that already. You can PM me or email it to support

I'll PM you my account email, I've purchased numerous domains from drop previously.

We fixed this up via PM, Joel's account was setup with Secondary Market Auction access, so I just had to switch him across to Expired Auction Access. Not sure what I was thinking 8 years ago when I split it into two products but I'll be updating the system tomorrow to allow both types of access to participate in the future.
If this happens to anyone else then rest assured it will be fixed tomorrow or you can PM me tonight

Interesting new site Anthony. Much better design than the previous Drop site, but still has some way to go to being mobile friendly - this would be a great improvement to focus on the User Experience, especially on mobile.
