this call for interest was in the october newsletter, along with the PRP ( policy revue panel ) it is one of the key elements to change that auda has initiated .
it was a HOT topic at the sgm, and as a board member i want to gather as much input as possible on our constitution.
firstly we will pick the chair, deputy and the other members of the committee so diversity is essential in my view.
secondly, everyone else will now have a direct path for input about the constitution to the committee, rewrite the whole thing if you think you can do it ! this is a brain storming process, its totally open and without director involvement until the final proposals.

YES, it will then need to be taken through the board and legals and i am sure everyone understands that.

this is your chance to amend what got us to this point, it has served us well but everyone agrees it is now out of date, its not 100% throw out just a tweek here and there with some really good NEW ideas and "who knows what else"
what i'd like to see is also that the constitution gets revisited every 3-5 years just like a business plan should, we live in a fast moving world, once upon a time the line moved sideways but now it moves upwards on all graphs, what was correct yesterday may not be correct today.

i will be there to help chose the committee and i would hope i have many people to chose from.

regardless of your success on being on the committee or not, please keep this process vibrant through submissions.

please take part no matter if it gets taken up or not.

    -----story------
i was advising a client this week on his newspaper advertising ( country town, it still works ) and i pitched an idea to him, he said " thats shit, but its given me another idea" . THAT is what you could do, don't hold back.

Tim, I've noticed since you have become a director at AUDA your writing style has changed for the better. Less spelling mistakes and a certain confidence in what you have to say.
Well done from an old dog.

Here is the problems as I see it,

    • Branch stacking
    • Should be only one class of membership
    • Must be a by election when director resigns
    • Number of "independent" directors should be reduced.

Changes regarding the first two have no chance of ever getting past a special resolution though.

thank you for those who applied, we had a good diverse range of applicants.
the CAC is on the agenda for decision on monday and a chair and deputy will be chosen, we'll then need to set terms of reference which i believe should be "open slather" as its an advisory committee to the board and i'd like to see extensive member stakeholder involvement as this will help set the constitution for many years to come but certainly not 17 !!!

Surely this is now under a dark cloud with the government review?

i personally wouldn't say that, i'd suggest members send any constitutional suggestions to both parties. this would help the government understand more about auda's role with members/ stakeholders/ dubbo.

if you all say "you want , you want , you want " then don't sit on your hands when the time comes.

It's disappointing that Erhan Karabardak has not corrected the record as reported in SmartCompany on Friday 20th October.

As we all know - and as you have now confirmed - this committee has not even been formed as yet.

Perhaps a follow up article will be forthcoming from Smart Company asking why they and readers where provided potentially misleading information from auDA?

In my opinion this appears to be misleading and inaccurate?

“We have also got a member’s constitutional reform committee which is a 100% member group, which is reviewing our governance structure from the member’s perspective. We want to give members a real opportunity to be part of the organisation and the reform process.”

auDA should put out a media release to fix their error or Smart Company WILL most likely be running follow up stories... It shows people need to really fact check issues, processes and statements coming out of auDA.
