Not sure when they bought it? A good example why the biggest companies are investing in generic .com.au domain names even thought they have well known brand names already

Coles and Myer are now totally separate entities there is no longer any entity called "Coles Myer".

The point is Australia's largest retailer ( Wesfarmers / Coles Group/ etc ) bought it as a generic domain name, use it in addition to their own well known brand names. This means smart companies buy generic domain names as they see them worth investing in....

They own it as registrant specified ( the entity name change doesnt affect it's registration in this case it seems)

Contact them if you think they need to update their registrant details :) Its still listed with whois as registrant Coles Myer.

It is in fact still the same "entity" just a name change

The thread started.." Not sure when they bought it?"

The point again is. Premium Generic domain names are worth money and worth companies buying and using in addition to using their own brand names as .com.au's

If they bought it as Australias largest in their market obviously they see value in buying and using generic domain names. Often some out of touch companies say they dont need a premium generic domain name as they are already well known etc.. Note they didnt go and register ColesGiftcards.com.au , ColdGroupGiftcards.com.au, WesfarmersGiftCards.com.au ... etc ( they probably should also) They just went with the pure Premium Generic .com.au name

I knew I wasn't totally MAD !

GiftCard.com.au $19,800 - dtrade

that's what I was thinking of
