Excellant article Josh. Neither big brands nor small brands will stand for this cash grab.

The auDA CEO Cameron Boardman needs to resign or be removed.

He is pushing this and requoting Bullshi$ claims from some others who have been calling for people to "push this in".

The Board needs to step in and mute him from his false claims. The facts are the .uk and ,nz failed. Wake up Cameron don't believe what you where told.

Shorter is not better.. Just look at the facts and numbers. Ask Google search boss Matt Cutts.

He is way over his head on domain names. Simply no clue at all or he is trying to just use the spin and propaganda we have all seen him capable of.

Why did he ever get the job? He is Fu$$ing up the .au name space. Enough is Enough.
    https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/au_domain_administration_ltd_aud#outgoing-4446

I have no problems telling him. I have already sent emails documenting it all to him.

Boardman has to go. He will get another job no problems but we need someone else urgently.

The individuals will benefit from another extension argument is pure rubbish. Look at all of the politicians now who all use theirname.com.au. I already highlighted these options are available when Brett said it also www.BrettFenton.com, www.BrettFenton.com.au www.BrettFenton.id.au etc
    CameronBoardman.com.au CameronBoardman.id.au etc etc

They are spinning the Bull$$ and will not stop until they are stopped.

Their own personal bonuses and company bonuses are not a good enough reason to damage the very strong globally respected existing .au name space and millions of Australians.

the failed .uk and .nz results
UK fact the .uk has failed and is NOT "remarkably successful" as claimed
    https://www.nominet.uk/news/reports-statistics/uk-register-statistics-2017/

NZ fact the .nz has failed and is not "remarkably successful" as claimed "Figure 3 shows the total number of domain names increased from 640,342 (at 1 April 2015) to 656,607 (at 31 March 2016) – a growth of 16,265, or 2.5 percent. The dip between February and March 2016 reflects the one-year anniversary of the end of the preferential registration and registration period - an important part of the registrations direct at the second level change. It appears that some registrants, having exercised their preferential registration rights, have subsequently let the shorter version of their name drop. "
https://www.dnc.org.nz/sites/default/files/2016-08/Domain Name Commission - Annual Report - .pdf

auDA seems to be ignoring the facts and is pushing on regardless with the un needed proposed competing additional .au extension.

auDA staff have engaged parties they knows personally to do the independent .au research"

From what I know of it auDA now considers direct registrations to be a "neutral" policy, they no longer see any overall benefit (or detriment) which is a substantial change from prior thinking. I believe they will let Boardman cop the heat in the media for a while yet whilst the others stay quiet and disavow all responsibility.

Jim Stewart was the one who has been putting in the work to get this issue raised with media outlets.

I do not believe that auDA is neutral. Look at their statements to media... they are not neutral.

They are trying to sell something they don’t particularly believe in.

yes.. How can numerous people stand up and try to sell it and find the "least worst option to implement" when they made submissions against it saying the opposite... laughable.
