I would love to know how to backup my wordpress files to my computer, my hosting is about to expire and I may look around before just paying an invoice, so this means I will need to save my files to my home computer, any tips? ......Thanks

Chances are if you have wordpress, you have access to cPanel. You can easily take a complete account backup and transfer it to any other cPanel host with little fuss. If you only want the wordpress files, you can export the public_html folder to zip format and save them to your local computer. Remember to grab a copy of the MySQL database aswell.

Have a look at UpdraftPlus WordPress plugin. You can take a complete backup include database and download it to your computer or online storage like DropBox. On your new host just install UpfraftPlus again and import all the files and you are done. The plugin is has a free. There is a paid version as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks gang, although my hosting is still on (just about to expire) I am unable to backup via the cpanel,(i get a message "can't find the domain" I did manage to do one and the MySql databases. I did use updraft on one of the sites and tried on the second but it took forever ( i was at the library ) I will try again tomorrow or the next day. I also have downloaded the content via dashboard tools. So there are a few options to play with. Cheers !!!
