I received this email from Suncorp yesterday...

And after following the link I came to this...

Has anyone else here received anything similar?

I've never seen or heard of anything like it, but it certainly shows how serious the big boys are getting about SEO now.

Why they'd want to swap the anchor text from 'life insurance' to 'Suncorp life insurance cover' is beyond me. Anchor text diversity maybe?

Anyway I just thought it was interesting and worth sharing...

They must see value in your link. Consider replying "Hi, requested changes have been made. Please ensure attached invoice is paid within 14 days".

Haha, yeah I should do! In truth I'll probably just ignore it...

    I can't read the blurry parts ;)

I think you are right about the anchor text diversity - they could be concerned about over-optimisation.

    Hi Shane,
It's real as they do all seo work for Suncorp and other blue chip clients.

They probably got hit by an update, decided your link is of value and want to keep it, hence they are doing all they can to change it to something more natural compared to an exact match anchor text.
