Auto Renewal hiccup

just thought i'd post a possible hiccup in the auto renewal idea of protecting domains.

this morning i got that popup that says your email didn't connect to a domain you are using, so i checked and the domain had gone down.

further investigation reveled it was because an upaid hosting fee, so i paid that

but further investigation reveled the problem was i recent broke my credit card ( over use on drops  )and the bank sent me a new one which thus had a different expiry date most also a different CVV on the back.

so now i am checking details for my domains as i received no warning on the host going down and perhaps i would not either on domains, yes we get emails but if the site goes down so does the email.

take what you want from this post, just a heads up

yes always a worry about that

I recommend renewing domains 90 days in advance of expiry, which is the earliest point at which a renewal is permitted. Helps protect against accidental expiry

Also consolidating domains with a single registrar can also help
