Just a reminder that these are coming up (Syd tomorrow),

Clearly the timing is ridiculous (6 hours long) if you can't make the entire thing I would suggest just turning up for the question and answer session at the end,

    Sydney
Fri 9 Feb, 10:00am, Rydges Sydney Central

    Melbourne
Wed 14 Feb, 10:00am, Novotel on Collins

    Brisbane
Fri 16 Feb, 10:00am, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre

Yes. I have long since given up on the extension investment wise.

But the proposal will do damage to business owners and investors in the .com.au space

That is good example of how there is no shortage of usable .com.au’s.

The pool of names would not be tapped out even if 100x the size it is now. auDA’s attempt to create a new extension is only for the benefit of themselves and supply side entities, pure greed.

Btw apparently auDA is messing with the schedule of these events, hopefully they will clarify the agenda ASAP.

    Some news will shock people!

Today's Sydney event was absurd to say the least.

People left more confused and it was very clear the whole drop auction platform model is not only at risk but thousands of people will be affected if they have bought names on the drop auctions over the last year!
Pretty good summary here from Robert on the first meeting https://namebid.com.au/articles/15/auda_prp_direct_au_registration/
but Sydney today raised issues about who is pushing this. Why the rush, what is the affect on drop auction platforms and their customers, where is the facts about the demand, why has auDA still not contacted existing registrants... why only about 15 people turning up in Sydney, why have .uk and .nz failed? etc.

Near the end of the meeting when questioned in more detail about their submissions previously on the record John Swinson and Narelle Clark ACCAN.org.au said their positions have not changed at all from these 2 attached documents. This raises very serious questions... Who is tying their hands and just pushing things really must be asked.. FOLLOW THE MONEY people keep saying

Registars asked for more time and said 6 months was not long enough and that far more consultations and discussions need to occur.

"The Board can choose to not proceed" PRP Panel 9 Feb 2018 Sydney meeting

"I am not aware of any evidence of market demand for direct registrations under .au." John Swinson

From the AGM and panel minutes it is clear to me that Mr Leptos and Mr Boardman hope to “push through” direct registrations without proper discussion on the merits.

And who is behind Boardman and Leptos?

    Aren't they both Victorian liberals?

You'd think even Rob K, could join the dots.

Maybe they both need to resign or be removed if this is true?

Massive damage is being done by some at auDA to the existing .au namespace and by the looks some at auDA have no real idea about domain names, the international domain name industry or a lot of the work done before them and why.

I know for a fact a Litigation Lending Class Action Lawsuit related person attended the Sydney meeting and if anything progresses it will not be just against auDA it will be wherever possible also aimed at others personally where Officer holders Professional indemnity insurance will not save them. Insurance companies don't like lawsuits and in this case they will find enough loopholes people will be on their own for the mistakes that have been made without a change and correction of direction. and auDA funds should also not be used or it may then become more of an issue for ASIC and others.

Is the current CEO really the person who should be in this job?
How did he get the job? https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/au_domain_administration_ltd_aud

What was presented at the Sydney meeting was that anyone who bought on the drop auctions also from that cut off date in 2016 will have no chance to even get the .au of their same .com.au or .net.au name.

That just killed all of the drop catchers businesses but hey is anyone letting people know?

Is it is time the drop catchers now came out and told people and those bidding on their platforms?

The Melbourne event is this coming Wednesday (14th February). Starts at 10am at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins - 270 Collins Street.

I'm not sure if the originally proposed timetable is correct, as I believe it was varied slightly in Sydney. So if you're planning on going, my advice would be to get there for the start of the event.

This is such an important event. You can hear what's being proposed by the Policy Review Panel; and you can ask any questions that you want. They are there to listen to your feedback. Don't miss your chance!

I'm going to be attending as an "observer", so I look forward to catching up.

its great ned is going, unfortunately its valentines day and its THAT 1 day of the year that anything i have takes 315th place to helenas wishes, being a florist and all.
its simply not possible for me to attend and you know me i'll attend "the opening of a letter " LOL
but please post. its been great to hear from robert and his article as well as sean and his sydney experience so melbourne really is the KEY pin as we all know.
as directors, we do really need to hear from you all feedback you gave, info you heard and your views on it.
NOTHING that you say is not being heard by me and other directors so its very important that you follow up here on dnt your view.
if for some reason i can get away i will be there but its a 0.00001% chance.

i truly look forward to reading your posts post meeting..

I have been told quite directly that auDA now sees direct registrations as "neutral", that is the word they use. They see no benefit, and claim their is no overall detriment. That is a very different position to a couple of years ago. They think it is now too hard/embarrassing to turn back.

    Only very slowly.

The thing is they would just get replaced with someone similar. These guys will tow the party line until the whole thing falls in a heap. At that point they will blame someone else and state it was always a bad idea.

Ned, the event is far too long. I think it is worth letting people know when most of the direct registration discussion will be happening, do you think it is near the end still? How can we tell business people or those with a day job to come along for a 6 hour meeting during the day?

Hi Tim you really need to attend Wednesday.

The Sydney meeting showed me this was a total balls up and you have to witness it for yourself so you know how to vote at Board meetings and how to express people's disgust.

Listen to the recorded meeting and you will hear several major blunderous mistakes said by the PRP reps of the day. When quizzed to clarify some statements you will hear the mess.. When statements and decisions are being made this important those statements, claims, recommendations must be factual and I feel in some cases they where not.

I believe there was a statement 97% of registrants know about the changes and are for it or words to that affect. That is highly inaccurate and when called out someone quickly fumbled after being questioned more by the attendees without a way of fixing the obvious false claim.

I have zero confidence in the process so far and the PRP now.

The PRP was clear they have been pushed by auDA to just push implementation even though there is NO demand, problems about process, rigged surveys, Cash Grab etc. This is a very serious issue now people have come out and stated it on public record and recorded.

Even though about 13 people only attended Sydney the public meeting was recorded and as it was a public meeting anyone can record it also as they see fit.

You need to hear it for yourself in Melbourne so you can represent demand members fully. And I mean not the supply related demand members who are still all signed up to stack the voting..!

The meeting is interactive that is why sadly you need to be there for the full day. The interaction was the only thing that made it worth while. Kudos to John Swinson and Narelle for stressing they did want people to speak up. Paul was far more reserved in what he said during the day and I would have liked to hear far more from him and engage more.
