Article 13 - Will it Kill the Internet

The un-elected EU Muppet's snuck up to a vote a few days ago on article 13 and article 11.

It is widely believed Article 13 will end Internet freedom as we know it. A total spy grid for tech companies allowed to have unlimited data mining and sharing but the general public isn't allowed to do it.

How can they do that? These EU Muppets will seek to take control of the internet via Article 13 and company’s browser systems will control what you can even type. You can't upload copyrighted music, you can't upload or share images, it’s a total censorship template, they're saying you can't even quote an article which is totally protected in European law and US law, you can’t share memes, it has to go through a program that decides if its hurtful or hateful or copyrighted. In fact, it appears they're more scared of memes because machine learning system that are scanning and reading it can't understand human humour, so it censor’s memes.

Its out of control, and its moving very quickly.

Julia Reda gives a well-informed glimpse of the issues;

Index on Censorship is a good resource to keep up to speed on what’s going on.

freedom on the net is also a good resource for information about censorship.

warned about it in my Government Review submission - Page 11

Interesting discussion of this EU insanity on Ivan On Tech crypto channel, starting at 27:58

He goes on a bit...some good points

He says...
Link tax, easy to create fake news because you can’t link without paying for it. I have to take payment for my links even if I don't want to get paid [its enforced not voluntary]

He goes on to say,

…the internet is way more important than EU. I mean, if this really messes up internet for real in the EU because no one really knows how it's going to play out, people will just prioritize internet instead of EU. I mean, I will move somewhere else if the internet is messed up in the EU because really, I don't care about the EU. I care about the internet and that is number one.

That’s an interesting point – EU migration due to restriction on internet freedom may occur.

In my view, content creation is going to come down to a type of time stamp content logging as proof of content. Whereby, a journalist with a blog who breaks a story to a small audience is picked up by a widely popular news media group and they change the wording to avoid bot detection; leaving the little guy without reward or recognition for breaking it.

ultimately, if this comes about, Internet users will simply find freedom in the dark web, and in time that will grow into a new type of internet experience.
