Apparently Penguin Has gone live

Hey guys,

There have been reports that the latest penguin update has gone live.

Anyone seeing any major changes in their rankings?

I know for a client here, we have the most searched and most competitive keyword in their industry go from a previous position of #45, to #13 on Monday and now sitting at #8 today.

I am running ranking reports on my side projects, so hopefully i have some other data to throw in the mix.

How did everyone go?

I haven't noticed many changes at all.. strange. Lots of people reporting changes.

I'm thinking that this must mean that the changes will take a few days.

If not, and this is all that is happening, then i'll be extremely happy.

OK - just in the last 15 minutes i've noticed significant SERP movement across most of my keywords. Mostly down

I've noticed many 'authority' sites have come to the top.

I'm seeing loads of movement this morning.

The changes I spoke about in this thread have all changed back for the better, with my site regaining most of its #1 rankings.

It's going to be an interesting few days, maybe even weeks from what I've been reading.

All good news so far though.

I see for a few commercial terms spammers have now moved to the top. which is not a good sign at all.

Will need to do more analysis on clients sites in the next 3 days to see rankings movements and also Analytic's analysis.

I've also seen a few dodgy SEO companies ranking highly for "seo" and they seem to employ the exact same crappy link building strategies that Penguin is meant to be going after

I guess time will tell if there will be another uproar and Google opens up another suggestion box to improve the algorithm again

Yeah you would think Google keeps tabs on these known spammer terms such as SEO and Payday Loans. Clearly 2.0 has not worked effectively for these two terms in question.

Was there a PR update as well? People have mentioned PR updates but i haven't noticed any.

Small 1-2 position drops. Absolutely junk sites above us with only 1-2 links and not even 301s.

Well for us it is a mixed bag with P2 this week.
About half our rankings changed and they went both ways, up and down.
As always we are up against spammer and imposter sites and the big G doesn't seem to mind this as they won the trademark infringement case in February.
Good news on that front is that a similar case went the other way in the UK, with Interflora Vs Marks and Spence.
Finally, ignore the news reports this week that said I killed my daughter (shown in the image) - they were not true - but as they say in the Australian media ... never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
