It has taken nine years of hard work, but the husband and wife team behind popular restaurant review website Eatability.com have sold what they call “our first baby” to SingTel-Optus for $6 million.

Eatability was launched in 2003 by Celeste and Hui Ong as a way to find good restaurants in Sydney.

It now gets millions of visitors every month with more than 235,000 user-generated reviews on 37,000 restaurants nationwide.

Good on them! Always used that site - it was well ahead of its time IMO.

Noticed of late they moved into non-hospitality which I think is/was a mistake. Just seems weird reading reviews of insurance companies on 'Eatability'

Congrats to the founders though - well deserved
