3 Letter Domains (Appraisal)

Hi All,

I was just wondering if 3 letter au domains are worth much?

I have a few I was hoping to sell, but not sure what the generally range from.

They are mixed acronyms and homophones.

Be curious to hear mixed opinions / expertise :)

Cheers,

Matt

hard to say without seeing the name, 3 letter domains mean different things to different people, mmv verses eat or hot has a huge difference in value

With any LLL.com.au domain you really need to think about end users.

A good bench mark is: http://www.3character.com/priceguide.html

This site basically shows more global data, sure maybe benchmark .com.au with the likes of .net possibly, maybe even lower value.

I own maybe 3 LLL.com.au (all related to what I need) I guess you need to research end users if no end users are evident even on the stock exchange you may find them very hard to sell.

Careful with this as the site hasn't been updated in an accurate way in years. Prices are far too high.

No way is lll.com.au comparable in price to lll.net. Low quality lll.com.au are available to register and the minimum is nothing like lll.net. There is no minimum for .com.au.

Agree, it has not been updated in a long time. And yeah .net is probably not the best example its a hard one to even call.

As I said you really need to do your research on the LLL.com.au if their is 20 x end users, then yeah it might be worth something. (that is the best bet here)

Also use this tool to check for additional meanings - http://www.acronymfinder.com/

Just pushing over some ideas for all.

3L registrations for .net have been saturated (none available) for over a decade, hence they have developed a scarcity value.

You can't get that with .com.au as the 3L market is unlikely to be saturated anytime soon. Unless a rich investor wants to create an illusion of scarcity and register them all..

For now given that you can currently hand-reg 3L .au you'd have to say (broadly) they are worth very little.

(Try out 'Random' on here to compare. http://www.namestall.com/3-4-letter-domains)

I know I always say "find the end user" but that's the best shot. you would be surprised what combo of letters end up being

wio.com.au "wankers in oberon" comes to mind ! :D

I don't think you will get much luck in the online auction system with a 3 letter domain, unless its anz or bhp but that just shows you the potential to the end user.

some are worth zero as snoopy says and some can be worth a few grand.

at auction most will be lucky to top $100
