auDA has light hearted dig at SGM with Auda.ltd!

It's just the standard Afilias web service, just branded for .au. Look at http://whois.afilias.net and it offers similars captures, any tld where Afilias is the registry is like this - eg. http://whois.nic.me

Afilias chosen as new .au registry operator

Don't forget that the registry require data to be verified now as well, not just by registrars, so the registrar will need to accommodate different registry responses if the data is not valid, rather than validating themselves. 2.2.7. Registration data validation To improve the data quality in...

AusRegistry specailist knowledge by George Pongas to Lifehacker article

Good example is some of the TV ads where the voiceover and on screen animation just says "search blah blah blah" and don't even mention a URL anymore

    .Melbourne Domain Names

The VentraIP check uses the Synergy API which goes directly to the registry and checks, any unavailable domain with VentraIP may not necessarily be unavailable with another registrar due to the premium issue I explained previously However if it shows as available, then its available online no...

    .Melbourne Domain Names

Some domains are classed as premium so those domains are not offered by Synergy simple because the pricing is different for those premium domains on a domain by domain basis. As an example the domain "election.melbourne" is classed as premium by the registry and costs more than the standard...

    .Melbourne Domain Names

Premium domains are not offered via Synergy so VentraIP will be showing as unavailable since we don't support them currently. :)

    TPP $1 .net.au extravaganza (not)

I'm all for this too, having domain.au would be ideal. However it was rejected recently.. can't remember why now.

    TPP $1 .net.au extravaganza (not)

To be honest, .au.com wasn't really a domain you were buying it was a awful sub domain someone thought would be a "cool idea" at the time. Stripping away an actual extension like .net.au wouldn't be as easy.

    Domain Shield relaunch

The website looks great Anthony! :) One thing I noticed is the padding of https://www.domainshield.com.au/pwreset.php seems to be missing from the text and looks odd.

    auDA Reviewing WHOIS policy

There is an easy process for providing proxy services, the real data just needs to be sent to a third party, its the process used with ICANN so wouldn't be that difficult to do the same sort of process, even if Ausregistry have both sets of data with them in the case a registrar goes out of...

    Uptime monitoring recommendations

One thing to keep in mind when monitoring from overseas services to anything in AU that you may get false positives if they don't check from a local location. :)

Important Changes to our Auction format

I'll admit to being one who hates reading long posts on forums, or anything in general, however I read the entire thing as I've always had a domain fetish (lol). But when you're having a discussion about something such as this I think reading every post if you're that involved/interested in the...
