WannaCry Fallout, Hosting companies going offline.

There is no excuse to use Windows 2003 servers today. Support ended on July 14, 2015. Those servers are running unprotected for nearly 2 years. It is not a matter if but when they get hacked. That company does not seem to take security seriously. Security should be handled proactive and not...

    Australian VPS

I am looking for a VPS based in Australia. I am currently using Digital Ocean and Linode for some of my sites. While I am happy with both of them they don't offer any local data centres. I am looking at Vultr. The local plans used to have lower data limits than the offshore ones. Now they are...

    Binary Lane

I had a look at Binarylane. It is a VPS service similar to Digital Ocean and Linode. You get a base install of a Linux distribution. They seem to offer Windows as well. You would have to install everything manually. To create a web server you need to install a LAMP (LINUX, APACHE, MYSQL, PHP)...

My new site/ First ever business

Looks good, I like it. Just cannot work out the map. Doesn’t seem to be Melbourne and if you click on it nothing happens. You may want to insert the code for Google Map. Since it is an e-commerce site I would add an SSL certificate for the whole site. Also have links to your social media...

    newbies lost password !

I don't know a simpler way. I have done it like this myself. If the customer wants full access, create a second user with admin rights for yourself as a backup. If the customer deletes it, he really throws his spare key away.

    VPS providers

I have been using several VPS providers including Vultr, Digital Ocean, Linode, AWS. All have been OK so far. They are self managed but that's fine with me. Has anybody had any experience with any of them?

    GST on overseas purchases

It will be interesting how the government tries to implement this. How can it be policed? It is a political decision with little merit.

    WORST website redos 2015

This is a textbook example of bad web development. Look at the source code. The images in the gallery are huge (300 to 400kB each). Tables, coding errors, slider offset to the right in Firefox, the list goes on.
