I don't know a simpler way. I have done it like this myself. If the customer wants full access, create a second user with admin rights for yourself as a backup. If the customer deletes it, he really throws his spare key away.

Yes, AWS is a good solution, lot's of options like S3 backup, Glacier archiving, Elastic IP. Can get pricey with bigger VPS.

This is a textbook example of bad web development. Look at the source code. The images in the gallery are huge (300 to 400kB each). Tables, coding errors, slider offset to the right in Firefox, the list goes on.
