This investigation update, is this public info?

Can someone please clarify if auDA considers a ‘continual registered entity’ (eg: moving from a sole trader to a registered company, or vice versa) grounds for re-registration of a .au domain?

From a promotional perspective (of the au cctld) I hope it helps the .au space moving forward. I hope not many ‘new time’ visitors get confused via type ins and go to the wrong site!

This is a very fascinating story! As some of you would know that are following this story, the registrant was able to keep the domain.. I very much look forward to auDA’s explanation as to why!..

It’s probably too early to compare the two .com.au is well established, but generic one word .au direct is getting interest.

Not that anyone should take any advice from me 😆 but I’d strongly recommend anyone wanting to get into decentralised domain names is to look beyond the 🛑 sign. Proof of work being very important, and a DNS system that’s owned by the many, always trumps the ‘for profit’ entity.. my 2cts back...

Of the 8 names I applied for drop caught 7.. Of those 8, 3 were premium.. of those I obtained 2..

Congratulations to those who placed bids in at the various auction platforms and won! I lost one name, but all in all a good result for me.. Thankfully I was able to secure my first name and my sons first name this morning, I hope he’ll thank me later in life for obtaining his direct .au 😉

It will be interesting to see just how many names how many of my winning names gets caught by drop.. With nothing ever certain in life, I suspect they will catch most of these..

For some short sweet one word generic names it ‘may’ but it will take many many years.. Remember that direct .au enables just about anyone with an Australian presence to register one for any purpose. A growing business (on .au) would seek the matching .com.au and .com if reaching international...

Looks like most state government departments have applied for tourism.au 😮

Did you by any chance do another check on the 100 top Aus companies to see if they actually applied prior to the initial release?

Initially almost zero, but you might inspect that to increase over the next few years, moreso with premium one word direct .au names being in use, traffic leakage to .com.au will likely happen..

Some of you who have applied for uncontested direct .au would have received their names today. Congratulations 🎉 to you.. I was very surprised a few strong generic one word names landed in my account. I might have a cheeky glass of bubbles to celebrate..

I could just imagine the registrars atm. they’d be inundated with queries.. I know because I tried contacting one of them just a few hours ago.. waiting time, just under an hour..
